Highlights
The first half of the season has been marked by promising performances and continued development for AC Milan. The biggest news of the summer was the signing of Spain international Álvaro Morata, who arrived in Milan on the back of an impressive European Championship campaign. A key player for Spain, Morata was expected to help the team in crucial moments. Two other low-key signings, Samuele Longo and Alex Jiminez, added depth to the squad.
In the first half of the season, Milan showed that they remained a competitive side, despite some setbacks in key matches. A 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League on 22 October was an outstanding example of the team’s attacking prowess. A 3-0 win over Empoli on 30 November and an impressive 2-0 win over Verona on 20 December also highlighted the potential of AC Milan this season.
Setbacks
Despite the positive results, there were also painful setbacks. The 3-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan on 22 September and the 0-0 draw with Juventus on 23 November left a bitter aftertaste. In both games, AC Milan lacked the necessary cutting edge and the defence was unable to effectively stop the opposition’s attacks. The 1-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta on 6 December was another setback, with AC Milan creating chances but failing to capitalise.
Changes
Milan have changed their style of play this season with a more attacking approach, driven by the arrival of Álvaro Morata. The experienced Spaniard has quickly slotted into the side and led the way with important goals, although he hasn’t quite been able to replicate his European Championship form in some games. In the Champions League, AC Milan found themselves in a tough group, but their victory over Real Madrid on 5 November showed that they have the potential to compete with the best teams in Europe.
Best goal
The most beautiful goal of the first half of the season was undoubtedly Álvaro Morata’s spectacular strike against Cagliari on 9 November. Morata broke down the left, beat two defenders and unleashed a precise shot into the top corner. It was a goal that highlighted both his individual class and AC Milan’s attacking potential this season.
Best moment of the season
The best moment of the season was Junior Messias’ dramatic late winner against Parma on 26 January. In an intense game, Messias made a precise pass, broke through and scored in the final minute to secure a 3-2 win. The goal was not only a moment of individual brilliance, but also a symbol of AC Milan’s spirit and determination to go all out in the final minutes.
Highlights
The second half of the season will see AC Milan battle it out at the top of Serie A, trying to close the gap on Inter Milan and keep Juventus at bay. AC Milan currently sits in 7th place with 34 points, well behind the leaders. The new coach will play an important role in developing the team and putting pressure on Inter and Juventus. A successful start under the new coach could not only bring AC Milan closer to Inter, but also provide additional motivation to leave the challengers behind. With the right support and a strong team spirit, the goal of finishing at the top of the table is a realistic one.
The challenges
AC Milan’s biggest challenge will be to close the gap on Inter and keep Juventus, who have 37 points, at arm’s length. As well as improving their own performances, Milan will also have to compete with the likes of Fiorentina and Roma, who are also fighting for European places. It will be particularly difficult to overtake Inter in the title race, as the Nerazzurri are having a strong season. AC Milan will be relying on the return of key players and the strengthening of their squad in order to succeed in the second half of the season and overtake their rivals.
The Derby
The Milan derby against Inter Milan is one of the highlights of the second half of the season. Not only is this match significant because of the rivalry between the two teams, but also because it could be decisive in the title race. AC Milan will do everything in their power to beat Inter and not only close the gap at the top of the table, but also send a message that they are ready to fight for the league title.
What’s new?
With a new coach at the helm, AC Milan will be looking for a fresh impetus to push the team forward in the second half of the season. Tactical adjustments and the integration of new players will be crucial to getting AC Milan back on track and challenging for the top spots. There will be a strong focus on the development of young talents who have shown promise in the first half of the season. The club will also look to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window to make the team even more competitive.
