Venues around Paris
Not only Paris itself, but also the surroundings of the capital of France set the stage for the Olympic Games. Just outside the city you will find the Stade de France, where athletics, rugby and the closing ceremony will be held. Nearby you will also find the Aquatics Centre where all kinds of water sports will be held.
Further into the country
Going a step further, we see that there are a number of venues in the rest of the country as well. Indeed, a large number of Ligue 1 soccer stadiums are being used for soccer matches during the Olympic Games. But there is one venue that is literally on the other side of the world. The town of Teahupoo on the island of Tahiti is where the Olympic surfers will compete for the gold medal. This island is part of French Polynesia, between Australia and South America.

The Olympic Games in Paris will be held in the summer of 2024. The opening ceremony is on Friday, July 26, and the close of the Olympics is on Sunday, August 11. So for over two weeks the best athletes in the world will compete for prizes. One of the advantages of summer in Paris, of course, is the weather. In general, the temperature that time of year is around 20°C. Not too hot, but certainly not too cold either. Ideal conditions for the best sporting events.

There are a lot of new developments during this edition of the Olympics as well. Here is a list we made for you:
1. 50/50
The Olympic Games in Paris of 2024 will be the first with an equal split between male and female athletes. In previous editions, the proportion of women was 47.5% and 48.8%, respectively. So this time it will be exactly equal.
2. New sport
A new sport has been added to the Olympic program: Breakdancing. Expect spectacular tricks and impressive moves in this new discipline.
3. Sparkling opening
Another first at the Olympic Games in 2024. For the first time, the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium. The organizers are going extra big this edition. In fact, the opening is on the river Seine!

4. Women close
There is also a change in the format of the program. Normally the men’s marathon closes the Olympic Games, but this year it is the women’s turn. This is the first time since the event was added in 1984.
5. Hospitality packages
There is one final development. The Olympic Games Paris are the first to feature hospitality experiences with most sports. That means packages are available with different levels of luxury (includings). These include a meal and drinks before the event, lounge access and, for example, a nice souvenir to remember your visit. P1 Travel gives you the chance to attend an Olympic sport with one of the hospitality packages [link to packages]. In fact, we are the official sub-distributor of On Location for the sale of Paris 2024 Official Hospitality Products for the Netherlands.
